removing shifter lever on an H

A couple of days ago I asked about an H that is stuck in gear. I forgot to ask how to remove the shifter lever from the top cover plate so I can build up the shifting fork. I have not gone over to see this tractor but may have to do the work on it this evening or tomorrow morning. All help is welcome as I thought that the lever would not come off unless the cover was removed. Brad
