On my 300U Forklift the starter sometimes hangs up in the flywheel. It makes a click sound just like a bad battery. The only remedy is to loosen the starter bolts and then it will crank and start. Ive always meant to take the starter out when it does it to look at the ring gear teeth and the starter gear but it always does it when Ive got something to do and I don"t take the time. The other 300U never does it. Do you think its always hangin at the same place in the ring gear. Burrs on gears?
