I've heard that the PTO units will not interchange well. My grandpa had a 340 and my dad had a 460 utility. They needed to use a combine, the 460's pto had died and the 340 didn't have the power to do it, so they quick switched out the pto's just to get them through. The 340 PTO supposedly ran really slow in the 460. At wide open throttle, it only powered the combine at 1/2 to 3/4 of normal, and it kept plugging up the shakers because they weren't moving fast enough.
