R Boy, for sure the good Bob M has great wiring diagrams and he can help you, no use in re inventing the wheel again huh. It sounds like youre already there, however, if you already have a ballast resistor and the 12 volt genny and 12 volt VR and a new battery I assume. You said VR, so I assume its a VR and not a cutout relay?? Regardless, its BAT terminal still wires to the ammeter (load side) and its other terminal to the gennys Arm post and it has to be to match your ground.

Simply hook the genny and VR up and polarize the genny (I assume youre still at positive ground, if you changed grounds, the ammeter leads need reversed and the coil needs to be wired to match the polarity youre at). The wire that used to go the the BAT terminal on the old VR still wires to the BAT terminal on the new VR, and the VR's Fld terminal wires to the gennys Field post, and the VR's ARM (GEN) wires to the gennys Arm post.

Simply wire the ceramic ballast resistor in the ignition circuit ahead of the coil so its between the switches output and the coils input (NOT to distributor) terminal. You could simply use the wire to the coils input now but remove it from the coil and wire it to the ballast instead, and then run a new wire from the other side of the ballast to the coil.

The ammeter and starter will be okay and so will the points and condensor, but the lights need changed to 12 volts.
