Belt adjustment on Farmall H...

A little insight maybe? I installed a new set of belts on my 52 H the other night. The genny pulley was easy to break loose and adjust. The water pump pulley was a different story though. I took the set screw and locknut out of the pulley and installed a 6" grade 8 bolt into the same threaded 5/16" tap to use for leverage to loosen the pulley. I pulled for all I was worth and wasn't able to loosen the pulley. My next step was to gently heat (propane torch) around the hub of the pulley and try it again. Voila! It did loosen up, but I wasn't real keen on applying heat to the pulley since the water pump shaft seal is only an inch and a half down the shaft.

My question...does anybody else have a tip or trick to making this easier without using heat? I anti-seized the threads so it shouldn't be an issue in the future, but still thought I would bust you guys for some input.
