I'm hoping you have a book and followed the propper torque sequence for the type of bolt you have. If you have a pre 1991 you could retorque but I have never bothered and it's not called for. The 91-later get so much torque and then an additional 90 degres and can't be retorqued, there is no final value to go to. Hopefully you also checked the bolt free length and liner protrusion. You should notice some improvement from the pump and valve lash. I adjust ours every 1000Hrs and test the injectors every 2000hrs. I only replace the injectors if they test bad or half of the set fails I'll replace them all, and usually they go 4K between replacement on a C series. I do run the engine and then recheck the valves after the initial run to make sure they are all still in speck after the dowels were in the followers. I've only ever had one valve that changed, but it was at .040+ I rigged up a vaccum hose to clean out the follower and got a wood chip from one of my dowels that was holing the pushrod before running but it got smashed when I ran the tractor. Usually they just leak on the right hand side from the headgasket at the rear, but I have seen one that had a leaking liner O-ring. It's easy to check with a pressure tester and the pan off though.
