Of course the tractor vet figured it out. I have to admit when he first started posting I thought his handle was a bit presumptuous. After seeing his replies over the years, I think it is very modest. I used to think I knew a lot about pre-T/A letter series, but I'm just a novice. By the way, it is much better than getting a free clutch. The tractor price included the fact that the T/A was inoperable and at a minimum I was expecting to split the tractor and would have expected to buy at least some parts. This was a reasonably well restored MTA with a straight M grill but otherwise complete, painted, with excellent rubber. I paid $2,500 for it, a running H with an old three point which works with cultivator cylinders (works great), a brush hog, a drag three bottom plow, one parts M, two parts H's and two pickup loads of Farmall parts and pieces. Since the MTA was rebuilt it has only been roaded to parades and parked. My plan is to put it on the round baler this summer and let it remember what work is really like. It should pull the baler a little better than the straight M does.
