For starters I would check the distributor cap for any cracks. Inspect the rotor too. If these appear ok you should pull No1 plug near the radiator and bring No1 piston up on the compression stroke to TDC. Someone should handcrank the engine until you feel compression against your thumb, then look the timing mark on the flywheel. Keep cranking once you see the mark until it's aligned with the indicator. Then see where your rotor is pointing, it should be at No1 position in your distributor. Hal
