7140 Magnum with the Cummins 6TA 830. Some of you may remember last spring I was asking about coolant getting into the engine oil. Did all the tests, had the pan off, pressured it up, no leak. So I ran it this summer with just water in the cooling system,so as not to destroy the bearings, hoping the problem would become obvious. Nope, just kept putting the water in the oil. Anyway, my question is, is there anywhere in the timing gear area where the coolant can mix with the oil, like a frost plug or something. If you take the timing gear housing off, is there an opening to the water jacket covered by a gasket perhaps? The last couple of days of my fall work, it suddenly stopped losing coolant, but started leaking LOTS of motor oil out around the timing gear housing area. So what the heck- this doesn"t make sense. Just wondered if any of you remember what"s between the block and that housing. Thanks, Paul
