If fuel is leaking from the adjustable main jet (at the rear of the carb), you probably just need to tighten the packing nut. Did you replace the packing ?. Don't get carried away, just barely tighten it enough to stop the drip. The nut may be so tight that you can not turn the needle part of the jet with your fingers. When you talk about replacing the washers / gaskets, it sounds like you are talking about the slotted 'nut' (on the front of the carb)that holds the mixing tube (brass tube that comes into the carb throat at an angle) in place. If that leaks with a new washer, the tube could be broken or cracked.
