I had a 1 time clutch problem that occured on my 986 that i am having trouble understanding. While rolling hay the other day i shut it off for about 2 hrs. when i restarted it i pushed the clutch down and turned the motor over and it was like the clutch was not working the tractor was moving, i put it in netural started it and pushed clutch down tried to put in gear and the gears ground just like the clutch was not engaging.I took inspection plate off and had my dad to start and push clutch pedal and the linkage and throwout bearing were working right. So i start it in gear and try to understand what was wrong and while pushing clutch in and out it would change ground speed. My dad then pushed clutch while it was running and i pushed in on the dump valve and still no clutch. It was making a growling noise while clutch was released when this was happening.I unhooked the hay roller and headed for the shop to work on it and ever thing started working and has worked since. It had to be something in the dump valve circuit. What does the dump valve do?The TA was working at the time of the problem.I got my clutch adj. procedure out and checked each step and it was right on.Would a piece of trash in the dump valve circuit cause this? Please Help!!
