Just started this job yesterday on a "48C. The oil seal just in front of the u-joint was leaking pretty bad. The I&T manual spells it out well, and there is a good diagram of the C/SC assembly. Used a pipe wrench to take out the bearing retainer on the front, and the worm shaft turned out easily. The shaft is quite worn in the area of the seal. It will probably need a speedi-sleeve. The toughest part was gettting the pin out of the end of the worm shaft where it attaches to the u-joint. One end of the pin has a head, so I had to scrath around on the paint to find the right end to push it out. Used a nail punch ground flat to get it started, and then a nail ground flat to push it out the rest of the way. Should get around to the vertical shaft tomorrow. Jeff
