Hydraulic coupler block on 656

On this tractor and probably other IH of similar design, the lines for the remote hydraulic couplers go into a square block on the back. Not sure of the purpose of the block but it is where the lines are secured to the rear of the transmission case. Are the steel lines pressed into the block? One was leaking on my neighbor's tractor where the line goes in. got the leak stopped but wondering what seals these lines.
