F12 Radiator Cap

I understand there is some kind of gasket that goes between the wing bolt and radiator cap of my F12. Now I have an extra nut there as a spacer since my new wing bolt appears to be too long. What does this gasket look like and how thick is it. I was curious if I needed to cut this bolt to fit. Thanks, Jim
