Re-wired M's electrical working again

Some of you may recall the posting about my rewired M which I converted from generator to alternator. My initial startup after rewiring was successful but the restart afterwards failed.
Checking over my connections using my multimeter forced me to re-examine my battery connections. Note: my cables are for top post battery yet my battery is side post. For several years I have used a bolt and large washer to secure the cable ends onto the battery. Closer examination showed a slight asymmetrical gap between the cable and battery. This gap was insignificant for a small amperage draw such as when I pull out the ignition switch but couldn't cut the mustard when I stepped on the starter button. Placing another smaller washer between the bolt head and battery maximized surface contact and proper flow of electrical juice through my starter.
Finally, a comment about my starter being jammed. I removed my old 6v unit as I didn't have the hands to rock the tractor. The unit spun quite nicely when I tested like I was starting it - except that it wasn't installed against the flywheel. (Of interest: I found remnants of a mouse nest in the flywheel/starter gear mesh housing area. A small hole under the housing must have been the way in/out.) After re-installing the starter the ol gal fired right up - although my fuel supply could be better, but that's another discussion.
