F-450 hydrastics control unit?

Today I got the gas tank outta the way and can see the hydraulic control unit is well preserved by a huge layer of well oiled mouse nests & dirt. I'd like to hear any and all comments and advise from "been there-done that" people, before I poke the tar baby again! Hydraulic controls were real real flakey, in that the loader would un-predictably leak down or creep up while the engine was running. It would slowly drop when the engine was not running. Like I say, youse guys that been there & done that, speak up now! Thanks, Hank
