Others can address the working on it better than I can , but the best way I have found if you have to do it by your self , is get two allthreads the same size as the bolts that hold it up ( four bolts, one on each corner)and long enough to let it down to where you can man-handle it. ( it is HEAVY). Remove two of the 4 bolts, one on each corner. Put a nut on each allthread on the up end just enough to let the allthread screw into the holes where you took the bolts out. I jammed two nuts on the lower end of each allthread so I could screw the allthreads securely into the housing.Tighten the two nuts on the up end snug and take the two remaining bolts out. Then alternatley unscrew the nuts on each upper corner, letting the pump ease down the allthread as you unscrew them.Its slow but it won't slip and cripple you. You might want to check your clutch and pressure plate while you have the pump out. With the pump out you don't have to split the tractor to get to the clutch and pressure plate.
