GM went electronic (HEI) ignition in the mid 70s,so you dont want that one....it goes inside the distributor cap and looks like a magneto coil.
Any coil will only put out what is asked of it.With new plugs,new cap/rotor,new wires (especially steel core),the system will not demand a high voltage of the coil.With fouled plugs and broken wires then it might ask for 20-30,000 volts...but only to try to fire the worn plug.It wouldnt raise horsepower or reduce fuel consumption.
In the old days,a gizmo called the "Spark Master Intensifier" was sold to go in between the coil and the distributor cap,its main purpose was to fake out the coil into thinking it needed to put out 100% power (it was a glorified resistor)all the time.The thought was to clean the plugs and get instant starts and more power.What actually happened was either the unit would fail and leave you stranded (until you unplugged it),or overheat the coil and pop it.They dont sell these anymore and now nobody subscribes to this theory to "Increase" power.
Even a HP coil will not change anything under normal conditions.
