Hi Paul!

Something is causing a current drain from the regulator L terminal when the L wire is connected. Suspect messed up wiring inside the switch box, or possibly the light switch itself is bad.

If your tractor doesn’t have lights you can simply leave the L wire disconnected and leave it that way. Or if you are feeling ambitious you can try to track down and correct the fault.

Note – Since you now have a voltage regulator, the L and H positions on the light switch are now simply two “off” positions for the lights. L and H should otherwise have no effect on the charging system operation.
