Hi Allan, according to my IT shop manual: The pump drive gear is used on several different engines and is equipped with six timing marks. On the D239 (674,684), D246 and D268 engines use the timing dot next to the number 4 on the drive gear. There is a picture in the book showing the following timing gears: crankshaft, idler, camshaft and injection pump. Timing marks are as follows: dot on crankshaft just slightly past 12 oclock, aligning with dot on idler just past 6 oclock, dot on idler at 10 oclock aligning with dot on camshaft at 4 oclock and dot on idler at 3 oclock aligning with dot by number 4 on injection pump gear. Hope this helps JB2
