Dan,the head is same casting as the gasoline so no problem there.Think you would be okay with SM carb as is.As for timing it would depend on what tractor is going to be used for.If for hard work on regular gas I use dist shaft marked with # 22 on it and spring set # 362725 R91.Just my opinion though.
