actully i dont think deere ever out sold harvester wen it came to tractor,s.i think some were that in the 1066 productuon it was there 5-millionth tractor and deere did not sell there 2 - millionth tractor till some were in the 90,s.and we all no were tractor sales have been now-nowere. but harvester could not return as many cent,s on the dollor that deere did also paying dividen,s wen they should not have,and many battle,s with the uaw,some big recall,s. a couple of big law suites that deere won aginst harvester.and spending money were they didn,t have the right idea what they were doing.deere ran there 55-45 combine i think for over 20 years,and harvester came out with new model,s like the car companies , to scale up and build new models coast million,s of dollor,s. you could see in the end many harvester new model,s were only in paint and decal,s, not that there tractor,s didn,t have hp they still make ton,s of it today.the wisconson steel deal coast them million,s and million,s of dollor,s,till they got rid of it.then there was the lag time between the 560 and the 806 were deere had the field all to them selfe,s,the 806 was one of the great tractor,s of all time but just about 3 year,s to late like the axel flow combine. just my impresion,s
