Hello, I am looking to replace a cracked block on a 674 Diesel. When calling the salvage yards the first thing they ask is for the casting #, which of course is not on mine. I have a 574 D and the casting # is plain as day on it, a seven digit number with an R1 after it. The only # on my 674 block is 1202A in raised letters right about where the casting # should be. This # means nothing to the salvage yard people. I called IH and they said casting # 3136316R13 replaced all the other #'s for the 239 diesel in both the 574 and 674. The IH man said he didn't know there was any difference at all in the D239 engine. I was wondering if anyone knew if there was any difference and whether I could get a block from the salvage yard with that latest casting # and whether all my parts would fit? My 674 does have a engine serial# 463616 and the tractor serial # puts it at a 1975 year. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks YC
