I may have posted this before on the Red Power board, but wanted to share with you our boys letter to us from Army over in Iraq. He is a sargent in motor division with lots of young men and women under him. They look for his leader skills and role model support !
I pray they all come home safe ...his Mom and I worry ! So sad !

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The story Susan sent me makes me sad and brings
to light allot of the
feelings that I have had. Seeing blood getting
shot at having Mortars hit
around you left and right and not even flinching
anymore when one hits. You
learn to live in constant fear and just long for
the day your home in safety
with your family and friends. There has been some
things that have happened
or I have seen that I have not told you. I feel
it is for the best but I
will and am changed probably forever, nothing bad
for you just a different
outlook on life I suppose. Watching someone die
or seeing dead bodies is a
feeling you cant explain kind of like when Lauren
was born. Carry on
conversations and laughing while a dead body lays
just feet from you makes
you think you are living with no remorse, but you
go home at night or
whenever and it hits you as you try to sleep and
keep seeing the face of the
dead person. I never thought I would see the
things I have and the type of
person I am makes it hard to forget them. I have
them all in my dreams and
think of the kids they could have had or did have
and wonder why some it
seems doesn't affect them at all. I don't see it
as often as some but once
or five times in my case is enough. I'll never
forget the Humvee that I took
parts off with SPC Crouch as we cried silently
taking off the parts. Knowing
that was the blood, flesh, hair, glasses, teeth
and everything of a dead
Soldier whom was fighting for people back home to
be able to go eat at Jack
in the box. I am happy to have been born and
raised in the country and miss
Wyoming at times the peace the friendliness and
the ignorance of what really
happens outside the small town life. But in all I
am still proud to serve my
country and hope that this is all going to help
these people. As I listen to
some of the Iraqis talk of how Sadam Housien
killed there Dads, Brothers or
even children. Makes you sick some of the stories
that I have been able to
hear. They cry and hug you and thank you so much
and offer the shirt off
there backs even though it is all they have to
offer. Some still hate us but
it makes you feel good that at least some have
gotten there peace with Sadam
being ripped from his hole in the ground and now
out of power. I miss
driving tractors, watching crops grow and going
home feeling you
accomplished something. Even though it has been
ten years I remember those
days like yesterday. Not to many people from
Wyoming in the Military but the
ones you run across you can sit and talk for
hours about nothing. I and
guessing I know and have seen and done more
before I joined the Army than
some do in there lives. Some of these guys have
never heard of a combine,
what a real live cow looks like let alone what it
eats an why we cut there
balls off!! Makes you laugh at some of them. In
short Dad thanks for showing
me everything you have and I appreciate you as a
Dad and what you do for
everyone. Love from THIS HELL HOLE. MIGUEL
