captaink is right. Get the engine warmed up to normal operating temp. and see if it still smokes. One thing I've done is to start it up cold and put your fingers on the exhaust manifold port of each cyl. as it warms ups. If one (or more) of them does not warm up as fast as the others it could be weak or dead. Helps identify which cyl. is the problem. Also if your gasket is blown, it's likely the head is cracked too. 560Ds were notorious for cracked heads. Often times they run fine until the head is removed only to find it's cracked. I've been there and done that (and rebuilt the engine). I have an IH parts catalogue. If you need the breakdown I could copy & fax you the appropriate pix. I hope your luck is better than mine. Gary
