Yesterday I posted about my charging system not work. I figured I need to go back to ground zero. I recently purchase this tractor and the charging system did not work. I added a light switch since the old one was shot I have an H with mag and voltage regulator for sure. I used Robert Melvilles wiring diagram and his trouble shooting chart. I did polarize the regulator. 1. when I turned the lights on, the ampmeter showed a discharge. 2.Ran ground wire from Positive side of battery (Ground side) to ground wire on voltage reg. with engine running. amp meter stayed in the neutral position ( not charging) 3. With engine running I put a jumper wire from bat terminal on Voltage regulator to gen terminal on regulator. Amp meter now shows a discharge. I removed the jumper wire the meter still showed a dicharge. ?? I then took off the cover on the regulator and seperated the points and the amp meter went back to center position. what does this mean? I would again appreciate some help! dave
