I agree, the pilot studs are a must. We used long bolts that would thread into the transmission and cut the heads off so we could slide the drop housing back off. Another tip is to drop those pans on the final drive and clean out the gunk. I pulled the lower shaft before removing the housing from the tractor. Put some thick cardboard on the flor so you don't drop the big gear and damage it on the cement. Also, pay attention to which side of the gear faces in. It is not different enough to tell once it is out.(Again, don't ask how I know this, HA HA) Good Luck!
