766 gas thermo spring

need help for direction of travel of cold start flapper. bought new spring and somethings not right;tractor older than shop foreman,no manuels, 715 gas combine at dealers with same engine no help. need position of flapper counter weight cold,currently at 11 o'clock cold: 2 o'clock hot.
