Was introduced to Canada summer 1967 as an economy leader. German built with a 206 diesel, 4 speed trans with low, high, and reverse range. Optional was Agriomatic trans. Incorporated a TA function, clutchless forward reverse with a middle neutral, and a dedicated neutral. Were advertized as 52 PTO HP, but none were under 61-63. Had diff lock, electric preheater, and a semi hyd seat. Price beat 544, MF165, deere 2020, AC170, Oliver1550 all to heck. We bought one in August 1967, Agriomatic, 16.9X30, single remote with front weight, block heater and shop built bumper-rock box for 5250 Cdn. cash. Excellent tractor, put a clutch in at 5500 hours, traded for a 986 eleven years and 9900 hours later. Only weak spot was brakes. Transmission style was reintroduced with the 20 series Maxxum. Other models were724, 63 advertized hp, 824 and then 824 4x4, 844 and 844 Super. Basically the 74, 84, 85, 95, and later series are all decendents. IH tried and succeded in marketing using the Super designation.
