The proper oil choice depends on what you plan on doing with the tractor.

First of all consult the owners manual!!!
(If you don't have one, you can easily order a new copy from your dealer.)

Most likely it will recommend a straight grade of oil for normal service.
#30 for summer use and #10 for winter use.

At the time your engine was built multiweight diesel engine oils were not widely used, therefore the engine was not designed for them.

However if the tractor is used only in light duty interminent service multiweight oils can be used, be aware that oil consumption will be higher.

As far as filters is concerned, any name brand filter (wix, hastings, fleetguard, etc) is satisfactory.
The CNH labeled filters on the dealer's shelf are produced under contract by various manufactors.
In fact most dealers shelfs now have a fair amount of fleetguard filters on them in addition to the OEM labeled units.

It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to change all your tractor's fluids and filters now.
Doing so would give you a excellent opertunity to become more familiar with your tractor as well as preventative maintence.
