I have been fighting air in the fuel system for weeks, ever since I changed the fuel filters. I was sure it was something to do with the new filters(duh) it was not the stupid filters,I finally narrowed it down to the silly little primer pump, the rubber piston was letting air pass the piston. You guys don't know the hours of cussing I have spent on this, I have had the injector pump off twice now and over to the diesel shop, they keep telling me theres nothing wrong with it. I have changed the filter canisters and the steel lines from there to the tank,I have been through the water seperator several times also. You'd think I would have had the common sense to look at the simplest things first(like a leaking pump)yup a leaking primer pump,it would spurt a little diesel every time I pushed it ,and I never thought about it letting in air. Remember, always look at the simple things first,it might save you some hard work.
