An automotive engine, not necessarily a high performance one, might run 30,000 to 50,000 miles with cast iron valve seats and no lead gas. Depends a lot on valve sping pressures, cam profiles, engine rpm etc., etc... Performance engines have high valve spring pressures, aggressive cams, high rpm so the cast valve seats ae not going to hold up real well, especially without the leaded gas lubricant.
