Don't know whether you are talking about North or South Dakota - but if it's north, you should take in a few things. As you come in from the west - you should stop in and see Medora, and of course the musical (for the tractor widow) http://www.medora.org/ - As you move eastward (and north) you absolutely owe it to Mrs. Tom to take her to the International Peace Gardens http://www.peacegarden.com - the park is based on international peace, and truly inspiring. I was there a week ago and it really causes you to pause and reflect. If you are lucky enough to be there on a Saturday, they have International Music Camp there, with performances on Saturday - I think usually at 1 or 1:30. Your wife will love the hundreds of flower gardens. As you make your way further eastward (this one is for you), the Hawk Museum is for the farmer in all of us. While I haven't personally been there, I understand it is just fantastic for the tractor lover. As you continue your trek eastward, and if the timing works - you would be very happy to spend a day or two in Rollag, MN for their Threshers Reunion http://www.rollag.com/ - the show isn't until Sept. though. I know the Hawk Museum is open even not during their show.

http://ndtourism.com/attractions/ << There is a list of a lot of good stuff to see - hope you have a great trip!
