PROGRESSION OF 1939 DESIGNED IHC TRACTORS THRU 60's

Just for interest, this is the basic design progression of the IHC tractor lines first introduced in 1939 (Cub 1947, C 1948). For the purpose of this progression, the transmission/rear end design/size remained basicly the same through each succeeding model (with improvements and modifications). The Farmall tractors and the standard tractors (W, O, I) differ in configuration but the tranmission/rear end is still the same basic design/size. Engine sizes often jumped progress lines as tractors got more powerful. On this list, all horse powers and all engine sizes to the nearest whole cubic inch are for gasoline models. This list is through mid 60's or thereabouts. A few additional models were introduced along some progress lines after that.

9, S9, 600, 650, 660

I hope this is of interest. I don't guarantee it to be 100% but it is close.

Today's Featured Article - Box Plow Blues - by Tom Schwarz. One of the first implements most tractor owners obtain is the box plow. For very little money, this piece of equipment promises to plow and flatten any hill or vale on your ranch road or farm. At least that's what I thought! As simple as a box plow appears, it can be rather challenging to make work correctly. In our sandy soils of Florida, traction is king. You can never have wide enough tires or heavy enough weights to get all the traction you want … unless you own a monster tractor. U ... [Read Article]
