I assume you are talking about the belt pulley shaft seal. This seal is held(pressed in) in a seal holder that is attached with three bolts to the belt pulley housing. All you do is take out the three bolts and the seal holder should slide right off. The seal does not run directly on the shaft, but rather on a bushing that goes over the shaft. The bushing clamps the bearing inplace on the shaft when you install the belt pulley and clamp it with the bolt in the end of the shaft. If the pulley is not in place, you must install a cover over the splined shaft in place of the pulley to clamp the parts in place. If you don't do that you will lose the bushing that the seal runs on. On my C, someone replaced the seal with one that ran directly on the shaft. In that case, nothing to hold the bearing in place except the seal. However it did not leak until I put it back like it was designed. My experience, nearly impossible to get these pulley assemblies completely leak free, especially if you are going to use them.
