Need help with cub pto

A good buddy of mine called me this morning and is haveing trouble with his cub. It has a woods mower deck on it. He said while mowing it started makeing a high pitched noise then the mower froze up. He took the belt off and his pto is froze up tight. It did not stall the engine.So he thinks it's the pto and not the mower deck. Have any of you had this happen befor and if so what is the best fix. I don't know the year but the link below is a photo of the tractor.
