The 300/330/350 series tractors are good dependable tractors. But all have their weaknesses. Check steering play, is the loosness in the box, steering arms on box or spindles, spindles themselves ? It's surprising how much play that can be eliminated by simply tightening str. arm nuts and/or replacing bad tie rod ends. Look for damaged/bent/welded steering arms, this can be an indication that steer. box has internal damage. We have 5 300/350U's and two of the five have had gearbox damage. Parts for box are hard to find and expensive. Don't let this sound like I'm discouraging you, a tractor is only as good as how well it's been maintained & how it's been treated. Both of the ones we have that suffered gearbox damage was due to people running them into things and breaking gearbox internal parts. One look at the steering arms(twisted, bent, welded)tells the story. Brakes usually need attention on these models, though not very costly. Well You did ask for a story. So I went on and on. The H.P. is 35. I would highly recommend one of these tractors, hope to have one myself one day. Thes are just a few things to check and to take into consideration when negotiating a price. Feel free to e-mail me if I can be of more help.

As simple as a box plow appears, it can be rather challenging to make work correctly. In our sandy soils of Florida, traction is king. You can never have wide enough tires or heavy enough weights to get all the traction you want … unless you own a monster tractor. U
