As far as I know, the 100 does not have LIve PTO, so you don't HAVE to have a run on clutch adapter, but it certainly is recommended. Not sure what you mean on your second question. You have to have the clutch disengaged when you either put the tractor in gear, or the pto in gear.. It doesn't matter which one you put in gear first.
