There has been alot of storys of cows on here lately, about bull safety and mike talking to his cows. So i what to tell you guys about something funny my dad did to one of his friends. My Dad used to be heard manager at Ridgetown college down here in south western ont, They get school tours in, and the kids get to see the animals and tractors and all the good ag stuff, and get the education about agriculture they don't get in school. dad had a tour of kids come in one day, He wanted to play a trick on the guy he worked with in the barn. so dad asked the teacher what kid to choose to ask the question, Do the brown cows give chocolate milk and the white cows give white milk?. So the teacher pointed out the kid and they talked to him about asking the question he said he would. Dad got a bottle of hersey chocolate syrup and put it in the pail, brought the pail to rob and rob started milking the jersey. While it was milking out he asked if anyone had a ? The kid put up his hand and asked,"Does the cow give chocolate milk since it is brown? Rob said no all cows give white milk. He opened the pail, and there wasn't white milk, it was chocolate milk! So all the kids called him a liar. Dad and a couple other guys were laghing like crazy in the feed room. They still laugh today about that! Some other tricks were, sending co-op students for a board strecher.another one for oxygen for a calf, so dad said go to the swine barn they sould have some, so he went, dad can call faster than he can drive, the swine guy knew what was up, so the student got there and fred said i just used the rest of the oxygen and a baby pig, so maybe if you drive fast enough with the pail out the window you can get some. So he did! Sorry for being so long and off topic!

Today's Featured Article - Choosin, Mounting and Using a Bush Hog Type Mower - by Francis Robinson. Looking around at my new neighbors, most of whom are city raised and have recently acquired their first mini-farms of five to fifteen acres and also from reading questions ask at various discussion sites on the web it is frighteningly apparent that a great many guys (and a few gals) are learning by trial and error and mostly error how to use a very dangerous piece of farm equipment. It is also very apparent that these folks are getting a lot of very poor and often very dangerous advice fro ... [Read Article]
