My 400 came 6 volt when i bought it, and generator didn't work, and battery was shot. I had to put a new TA in anyway, so i put it to 12. I basically rewired the wole thing so i can understand it, and know all the wiring is right. I put a single wire alternator to the battery, changed it to negative ground, new coil(could put a resister on) New lights, same starter(starts quicker with 6 volt starter and 12 volt battery) I put all new guages in with lights. The nicest starting tractor i have ever owned or seen. If need more help, just e-mail
