Thank you for your insite. Maybe you could shed some more light on this issue for me? I thought the industrial units were just cheeper versions of the more farm type tractor versions (Farmall and row crop). The utility front axle (which I have) is not adjustable. I wonder if they offered this axle due to the adjustable front end units not being able to handle a lot of weight up front (such as if a front bucket was up there).

The fixed rear draw bar is a real inconvience as I cannot swing my rear blade around with it on. The Farmall telocoping unit would be much better. I wonder if it could not handle as much load and that is why it was not a standard item on the utililty? Also the International 3 point have a separate stableize bars (which mine are long lost) where a farmal unit has locking lift arms. I always thought the stableizer arms were a after thought to the international 3 point hitch. You wouldn't know which tractors (versions) would have these stableizer arms?

I wonder how many utilities ended up on farms and Farmalls or row crops ended up on freeway crews and etc.

So really, a 2544 has the same platform as the I-544. It just allowed for more heavy duty options. Were 2544 painted yellow or farmall red?

Do you know why IH made the front wheel rims concave? I realise you can flip them for a slightly different tread path, but wouldn't the rim be stronger built more like a truck rim?

Sorry for the volume of questions, but I have not been able to find any good reference internet sites on the 544 model.
