Ted, I remembered a similar discussion a few days back so I went back and found what may very well describe your problem. It was posted Jan 22nd under "Hard starting Super A". Hugh MacKay responded to that thread as did Bob M. according to Bob, who many here regard as the electrical wizard said in that thread that a bad coil will produce the problem that you are experiencing. The difference being that your starter seems to turn over normally until you turn the switch on and then it bogs down. My guess is that if you have good points and condensor, and if your coil is indeed good that you have either a weak battery or something down the line draining current that otherwise would go to the starter. If you have another tractor with the same voltage system, ie 6volt or 12 volt, you may try swithing coils and see if the problem goes away. It only takes a minute or so, and it will pinpoint or eliminate the coil as the culprit. YOu might try going back or in the archives and see if you can find that thread to see if your problem is the same. Right now its on page 6
