Greasy John:

Of the three options for carburetors I prefer the Zenith or Marvel Schebler over the Carter units. Very few I get in are in rebuildable condition(they don't seem to stand up as well) and worse I have had very little luck in getting parts for the unit other than a few basics. I can get an aftermarket kit but it is pretty much gaskets only(its been a while since I looked at the kit so I will double check). My biggest problem was the floats and choke shafts being bad or missing. There are no replacements that I know of. However, over the past several years I quit trying to rebuild these carbs, and have quite a few used ones which you may be interested in for parts. I don't know what the boys in the office want price wise but call 1/800/248/2955. My personal opinion would be the switch over to a Zenith carb. I do have contact with the Zenith company and I can get many brand new OEM parts yet to fit the Zenith carbs. Zenith also bought out the Marvel Schebler inventory(or so they say) and I can get OEM parts to fit these as well. Keep in mind while I can still get parts, Most of these Carbs are obsolete and so are the parts. I have at times bought a few parts and basically used up the rest of the inventory that will ever be made.

I will Look tomorrow in my Carter parts bin & see if I can come up with the jet and will post a message back.

Today's Featured Article - Choosin, Mounting and Using a Bush Hog Type Mower - by Francis Robinson. Looking around at my new neighbors, most of whom are city raised and have recently acquired their first mini-farms of five to fifteen acres and also from reading questions ask at various discussion sites on the web it is frighteningly apparent that a great many guys (and a few gals) are learning by trial and error and mostly error how to use a very dangerous piece of farm equipment. It is also very apparent that these folks are getting a lot of very poor and often very dangerous advice fro ... [Read Article]
