If you are just wanting to turn the motor over and not start it, what I do is put the PTO in gear and then put a half of a PTO universal joint on the PTO shaft. Put a bar in the universal and you can turn the engine. Be double sure the ignition is off, probably best to take the coil wire loose to make absolutely sure it can't start.
