Mickey, I am a proponent of not wasting time and money to try and fix something that can be replaced, I guess I learned this restoring old cars. I would go to a tractor wreckers and buy a complete oil bath in decent condition..I am guessing around$50-75 from a wrecker..by the time you fabricate, braze and concoct screening for the filter you will have surpassed the replacement in time and money..I had a Farmall H with the oil bath all dented up, I got one like new for $20 from a tractor wrecker..that's my point...Ontario Used Tractor Parts (519)523-4922 ask for Stephen, if he has one he will ship, you may have salvage yards close to you to try....Good luck from Mike in Exeter Ontario
