My opinion: An H (or any other Farmall for that matter) already has all the "class" it needs! A chrome ring cannot possibly add any more. However I also firmly believe that as long as it's your tractor you can add whatever touches that please YOU. And if that means a chrome escutcheon around the exhaust opening then by all means go for it! As a practical matter, so long as the exhaust stack-to-muffler connection is gas-tight there will be no exhaust staining around the hood opening. Smearing some furnace cement on the exhaust nipple before slipping on the muffler will seal the connection very nicely, yet permit the muffler to be removed later on.
