Cream Colored Tranny Oil

A few months ago I had a mechanic change the oil in my tranny of my 424. I found that strange as my bill wasn't large enough to cover the cost of 5 gals of oil, so I figured he got it cheaper in bulk. Also the drain plug
was caked with dirt and there was no tool marks on it. Just recently I pulled the hydraulic housing off to replace the piston seal. Well the tranny oil was yellow, and that is usually an indicator of water in oil. Ya gotta watch these mechanics. Here's a guy who figured he would make 20bcks off of me, figured this green horn don't know anything about tractor maintenance. He lost out in the hundreds as I will never do business with him again. I drained the tranny and cleaned out the grey sludge at the bottom of the case and about a cup of ice. I saved 20gal of oil from a drain of my MH tranny I did a couple of years ago. The oil was yellow on that too but it had time to settle out and the oil was gold colored and clean. I filtered it out using a linen sheet just in case. There was a 2 inch block of ice with dirt mixed in on the bottom of the pail. I should let my suspicions come out right away and ask him how he managed to get the oil out without removing the drain plug.
