I had the origional one on my H. I always thought that it was something my father made, almost like a sicle bar mower shim but a little thicker. Mine had a slight crack so I was going to weld it up but I found a bracket in my shop that had one end that was the exact same width, had a hole (for the rpoe) already drilled and one end curved the exact way as the origional. I just had to cut it to length, drill the hole for the seat bolt and file the end so it will be a little rounded. I usually wouldn't make things but this was really easy. It was a little thicker too which I think would help. Then for the rope release, I found a picture of one for a JD # 52 plow. I made one too and put it in the rope hole. Tie the rope to a steel ring (I got it at Home Depot) maybe 1 1/2" in diameter. Then I took a (I think it is called) a linch pin and bent it so the ring can be slid into it. If there is enough tension, the ring just comes out. It is a little hard to explain, but if someone has a JD # 51 or #52 plow manual, it is on P.12.
