Hi, I believe the compression ratio is 22:1 on those UK Diesels. We had a B414D which is the bigger brother of the B275. It always had a lot of noise and clatter when it was idling to slow. When it was new IH mechanic tried slowing the CAV injector pump timimg but the only outcome was less power and more smoke. Returned it to factory setting and never let engine idle below 800 RPM.
