Allan, Just thought I'd put my 2 cents in here, since this seems to be primarily a "Nebraska" thread so far!
First of all, that's a nice looking H! I raked alot of hay on a narrow-front Super H when I was younger.
Second, I like seeing those trees in the background. I lived in Chadron for 3yrs in the mid-90's and always loved that country. Still have lots of good friends up there. One good friend's dad has a ranch southwest of Chadron on Deadhorse Creek and I spent alot of time out there. I'm back home in the Sandhills now though, south of Valentine.
Next, I can relate to your memories being foggy. When I was little, we had a WD9 here on the ranch, and for years my memory of it was that it was a HUGE tractor. Granted, they ARE a big tractor, but in my memory it was lots bigger dimension-wise(height and length). Funny how that works. Just recently I bought a 650D, so I too have a tractor similar to the one I remember from the old days.
Finally, we have a 656 on the ranch, which replaced the WD9. We used it to pull 6 ton stacks on a haysled to feed in the winter, and for years it was our "biggest" tractor and did everything we needed it to. A couple years ago, my brother bought a loader for it, cant think of the brand of loader at the moment, but it's all forward weight with a very large heavy bucket. With that loader mounted it can't get out of it's own way- no traction and cumbersome to steer, not to mention the fact that the weight sinks the front tires out of sight anytime we need to cross a wet meadow. Guess we need to add weights to balance it out, but since we don't use it alot anymore it'll probably not get done.
